Description

Seed-to-Cup Coffee Experience

Step into a living coffee tradition at Finca del Café, a working farm in the heart of Colombia’s Coffee Cultural Landscape. This hands-on tour preserves the heritage of our ancestors while showing you how sustainable coffee is grown, harvested, dried, roasted, and brewed—until you prepare your own cup, exactly as the old families did.

At the start, you receive the classic coffee-country outfit—sombrero, poncho, and hand basket—and follow safe trails bordered by flowers and fruit trees. Guided by local growers, you hand-pick ripe coffee cherries from productive plots and learn the respectful harvesting techniques used daily by farm pickers.

In the nursery, you see how a coffee seed is germinated and raised into a young plant ready for transplanting. Then, inside our innovative parabolic solar dryer, you discover traditional and modern drying methods and why careful drying is essential for flavor and quality.

The path continues through a guadua (bamboo) forest, where the sounds of frogs, birds, and a small creek accompany you. With that same farm-grown guadua we have built bridges and scenic overlooks—quiet places to breathe, rest, and take in the green, layered landscape of coffee hills.

Finally, you enter a typical farmhouse where a woman coffee grower—our chapolera—guides you through the home processing of the beans you picked. You roast the dried beans on a wood-fired stove, grind them by hand, and brew and serve a fresh infusion. Savor your cup and understand, step by step, how Colombia’s finest coffee travels from seed to palate with craft, sustainability, and pride.
